Start pixi desktop applications from Web pixi

If you log in to Web pixi and pixi desktop applications on the same computer and want to use only one pixi license, you must start pixi desktop applications from the widget on the Start Page.

  1. Go to the Start page in Web pixi.

  2. Click the desktop application that you want to open in the Desktop Applications widget. Only applications are shown where you do have the permission to log in.

  3. You need to confirm that pixi Desktop Launcher application can be started. Confirmation dialog depends on the browser that you use:

    • Chrome: Click Launch Application in the External Protocol Request dialog. If you don't want to confirm this every time, select Remember my choice for all links of this type.

    • Firefox: Click OK in the Run Program dialog. If you don't want to confirm this every time, select Remember my choice for pixi links.

  4. Because you have already logged in to Web pixi you will be automatically logged in to the desktop application with the same user data. If you have to enter a username and password for opening a desktop application, a separate license will be tracked. This can happen, for example, after an auto update of a pixi desktop application.

Take care that you do not log out from the pixi web application as long as you are using pixi desktop applications. If you start another desktop application, e.g. to print an invoice from the pixi Customer Service (another instance of pixi Invoices is opened automatically), your session from Web pixi would be lost and another license will be tracked.

If you start pixi desktop applications from Windows, and you are already logged in to Web pixi, you will use two pixi licenses.

    • Applications are started directly from "C:\pixi" folder.

    • According to the examples, your folder structure could look like this:

You can find your pixi database version in the start screen widget "Configuration" in Web pixi and in Help > "About..." Dialog from the toolbar in all desktop applications.

Opening pixi desktop applications with older versions than the pixi database can lead to compatibility issues. Please contact your system administrator in case of problems.
