Troubleshooting: Invoice Printing

Problem: Invoices aren't created and / or printed via the shipping PC. Follow the troubleshooting tips and instructions below.

Invoices Aren't Printed

pixi* Invoices

  1. Is the automatic invoice printing started in the pixi* Invoices?

  2. Has a box range for automatic invoice printing been assigned?

    • If you have a box range consigned in pixi* Invoices, an invoice will be automatically created for these boxes only. It should be noted that the box range is also taken into account for printing if the checkbox "Use range of Boxes" is deactivated.

    • The screenshot shows the standard box range, in which all boxes are considered

  3. Is the application connected to the right location?

    • If you ship your goods from several locations, the invoice printing must be started at the right location.

  4. Does the text in the "Current Activity" field change from "Idle" to "Current Operation: Printing invoice(s)"?

    • If this notification does not change, restart the pixi* Invoices and start the automatic invoice printing again.

  5. Has automatic invoice printing started on several computers with the same box range?

    • If you have started the automatic invoice printing on several computers for the same box range, the invoices will be printed mixed on the respective stored printers in pixi* Invoices.

  6. Is the function "Don't print pixi* invoice when saving the invoice as PDF" active?

    • Check if under Extras > Settings > PDF Invoices the function "Don't print pixi* invoice when saving the invoice as PDF" has been activated.

  7. Are all system templates available under C:\pixi\templates?

    • Bial.rtm, ll.rtm, Lsl.rtm, Rsl.rtm, seal.rtm, shal.rtm

    • If you are missing templates, contact pixi* Support.

pixi* Shipping

  1. Are all items in the box?

    • If there are still open items for a box, no invoice will be generated via the automatic invoice printing. Under the tab Boxes in pixi* shipping you can check if there are still open items for the box.

    • If there is an N in the "Wait for send" column, the box is not yet complete.

  2. Has an invoice for the box already been created?

    • If a Y is displayed in the "Waiting for shipping" column, an invoice has already been created.

    • The button "Print invoice for box" is available in this case. Please click on this button to print the invoice again.

  3. Has a partial delivery been triggered via the picklist?

    • If you have triggered a partial delivery using the picklist settings, the invoice for the affected box must be created manually.

    • The invoice is automatically printed for orders only if the partial delivery was triggered by pixi* Customer Service.

Warning Messages & other Root Causes

  1. "The invoice template was not found"
    Please check if:

    • the folder "templates" is available under C:\pixi.

    • under C:\pixi\templates the appropriate template is deposited.

    • printing rules have been defined and the template is stored under C:\pixi\templates.

  2. "The address template was not found"

    • Please check if the template Bial.rtm exists in the directory C:\pixi\templates.

  3. "The shipping address template was not found"

    • Please check if the directory C:\pixi\templates contains all System .rtm files: Bial.rtm, Rsl.rtm, seal.rtm, Lsl.rtm.

  4. "Could not compile program:"

    • Please check the template if you are editing it yourself. Otherwise, please contact the pixi* Support.

    • The details of the error message show you the incorrect section in the template, for example "DetailBeforeGenerate" or "SummaryBeforeGenerate".

  5. "OLE error 80040E14"

    • Please check if a shipping block has been set for the order and remove it so that the invoice can be printed

  6. Does the order contain more than 2.500 order lines?

    • In case more than 2.500 order lines are assigned to an order, an invoice can not be created. Please split the order into multiple orders in this case!

Fulfillment Invoices Aren't Printed

If "normal" invoices are printed, but the printing of fulfillment invoices does not take place, you should check the following two database settings:

  • Enable Fulfilment Type One

  • Enable Fulfilment Type Two

Both database settings can be found in the pixi* Control Center > Database Settings tab> Direct Fulfillment folder. Enable both settings to allow printing of fulfillment invoices.

Invoices Are Printed Via Wrong Tray

If you have a printer that can manage multiple trays, the printer should be installed multiple times and a fixed tray assigned to each "instance". It's best to create a separate "instance" for each tray of the printer. In this way, the least complications arise when printing invoices with pixi*.

In pixi* itself, you should then assign the appropriate printer to the respective template type (invoices, second page, third page, etc.).

If invoices are printed via wrong trays despite the supposedly correct assignment of the printers, please set a printer for the template type to which a different tray is assigned. Here we recommend you to test a little until the desired tray is triggered during printing.

Note: Make sure the correct print size format is set. For invoices, this is usually the print format "A4".

Example: In pixi*, the printer "OKI C5650 tray 2" is consigned for invoices, but the invoices are printed in tray 3 of the printer. In pixi*, the printer "OKI C5650 Tray 3" is consigned for invoices, but the invoices are printed in tray 1 of the printer. If you now want to print invoices in Tray 2 of the printer, set the "OKI C5650 Tray 1" printer in pixi* for the template type.

PDF Invoices Aren't Saved

If you have enabled PDF printing in the pixi* Invoices application (Save a copy of the invoice as PDF file to this folder) and also the Create subfolder for each month option, you may receive the following error message when trying to save PDF files in the selected directory:

This error message is displayed if pixi* is not authorized to save PDF files in subfolders or to create these subfolders. In this case, start the pixi* Invoices application as an administrator (right-click on the execution file of the application > Run as administrator) or deactivate the user account control.

Invoice printed repeatedly

It can happen that pixi Invoices tries to print the same invoice repeatedly and this is acknowledged with an error.

The reason for this is usually a faulty template. Only when pixi was able to print the invoice successfully, the counter in the database is increased by 1 and the invoice is considered to be printed. If this problem should occur, you must first have the invoice printed using a correct template.

Invoices are not printed automatically in the desktop invoice application

If invoices are not printed automatically in the invoice application, please check whether the setting "Automatic invoice creation and printing on the web" is activated in the Control Center. After activating this function, invoices are no longer created automatically in the desktop application.
