Scan-In History
The Scan-In history shows the recently scanned items with additional information. It contains the 50 last scanned items of the currently logged in user.
Info:
- The database setting Scan In - Number of History Entries does not affect pixi Web.
- If the Ship-Out was done for a shipping box listed in the history, the entry is removed.
- The history does not include information for scans done with 1-Scan-Shipping picklists.
Item Information (left)
Item Code
The scanned item code will be populated in the Item Code input field.
This field is automatically focused when opening the page and after each Scan-In.
Usually, this is an EAN, but if set up accordingly, then also other item codes are allowed to be scanned.
The following strings can be entered in this input field:
Item Code: Enter the item code to do a Scan-In for an item.
Picklist number: By entering "pic" + picklist number (e.g. pic1843), the picklist is loaded. Now, item codes can be scanned to process the picklist further.
Unload picklist: If you want to unload the picklist, e.g. to do Scan-In without picklist, just enter "pic" and confirm.
Change Boxes Range: By entering "box" + start box or start and end box, the range of boxes for a picklist can be changed.
Transport bin: Enter "tbin" followed by the name of the transport bin (e.g. tbin14).
Item Name
After a Scan-In was done for an item, it's full name is displayed below the Item Code input field.
This helps to confirm that the item you are physically about to process matches the one in pixi.
Item Image
In case the data is properly set in pixi, an item image is displayed below the item name. This additionally helps visually confirming that you are about to scan the correct item.
Rules to display the item image:
-
Default image display
URL to small item image (<MIME_PURPOSE>thumbnail</MIME_PURPOSE>)
If no URL to the small image is set in the database, the normal item image is displayed
If the URL to the small image is broken, then we display a broken image icon
-
Clicking the image
URL to normal item image (<MIME_PURPOSE>normal</MIME_PURPOSE>)
If no URL to the normal image is set in the database, the small item image is displayed
If the URL to the normal image is broken, then we display a broken image icon
Process Information (right)
Automatically, each box is temporarily assigned to one particular order until this order is completed. A double allocation for any of the boxes is not possible. pixi selects the nearest located and empty box respectively and takes the customer status during the picking process into account: pixi automatically processes those customers first who are already waiting the longest for their order. The boxes which are automatically assigned by pixi get allocated to only one order respectively. Hence, each box is representative of one particular customer order, but each box still can contain multiple items.

Scan-In using a Picklist
How to perform the Scan-In using a picklist:
Navigate to the Logistics > Scan-In page in pixi Web.
Enter the picklist number prefaced with "pic" (e.g. pic1234) and click Scan-In.
The Picklist ID is displayed on the bottom of the page if the number is valid.Enter the barcode for each item picked and click Scan-In. For items that contain BBD data which is not automatically applied from the GS1 code, a popup is displayed.
If the information entered is valid, pixi will display the message Put to Box and provide the box number as well as the box description. Additionally, an item image is displayed below the item name if a valid image is associated with the item. You can click this image to enlarge it.
Place the items in the box with the number as displayed by pixi. The orderlines of the items now have the status EIN.
If all picklist items have been scanned in, Done is displayed after the picklist number to highlight that the picklist does not contain items anymore.
To clear a previously loaded picklist, enter "pic" and click Scan-In in order to do a scan-in without a picklist.
Info: If a picklist contains items that are spread over several bins, the stock of the item is reduced in ascending order of the bin sort number.
Changing the Box Range
In some situations, changing the box range of a picklist after its creation is needed. This can be done at any time - independently of whether it's already partially scanned or not.
This is how you change the box range for a picklist:
First, load the Picklist (see Scan-In using a Picklist).
-
Now you can change the box range.
Providing the start box: If you only enter the start box, pixi automatically calculates the end box considering the orders that are on the picklist.
The start box is defined by entering "Box" followed by the number of the start box, e.g.
"Box5" or "box5" or "Box 5" or "box 5"Providing the start and end box: By entering the start and end box, you can freely set the box range. It can then be bigger than the amount of needed boxes. You can define the range by entering "Box" followed by the box range, e.g.
"Box5-10" or "box5-10" or "Box 5-10" or "box 5-10" or "Box 5 - 10" or "box 5 - 10"
If changing the box range was successful or not is displayed in the process information.
Info:
- When entering the box numbers, you don't need to take care of capitalization.
- Depending on the database setting "Picklist - Overlapping boxes" (pixi Control Center > Database Settings > Shipping), a box range can only be assigned to one active picklist (setting disabled) or a box range can be assigned to multiple picklists (setting enabled).
- pixi does not check if boxes already contain items when changing the box range, but if there are active picklists with this new box range.
- Using this barcode generator, the needed barcodes can be generated and printed.

Scan-In without a Picklist (Direct Scan-In)
There may be situations where you want to scan items without using a picklist — for example, when shipping items that have just arrived directly from your supplier and have not yet been stored in the warehouse.
These are so-called Just-In-Time or On-Demand processes which pixi supports even in its basic version/ already by default. This feature is recommended, if a large proportion of the incoming goods have already been re-ordered at customers’ request, or if you deal in fresh products, e.g. food, and you want to ship them directly with goods receipt.
Go via the following steps to apply the Direct Scan-In:
In pixi Web, navigate to the Logistics > Scan-In page.
Enter "pic" in the field and click Scan-In to clear any previously loaded picklist. This way you ensure that stock quantities for the scanned items are not automatically deducted. If you scan the first item, pixi will notify you once, when scanning the first item, that stock levels will not be reduced. Please also note the relevant settings mentionepd in this article: Scan-In of items.
(optional) If you want to assign a box, type "box". Then scan the desired box.
-
Enter the barcode of the item you wish to scan and click Scan-In.
If the item is tagged BN or BBD, you must enter batch information.
If the information entered is valid, pixi will display the message Put to Box and provide the box number as well as the box description. Additionally, an item image is displayed below the item name if a valid image is associated with the item. You can click this image to enlarge it.
Place the items in the suggested boxes. The orderlines of the items now have the status EIN. If pixi can’t retrieve any unprocessed orders or orders ready for shipping, then pixi will present you with the relevant information: these items should then be supplied to the warehouse.
If you have processed items Just-In-Time and these items don’t complete your customer order for a specific box, then the next picklist will take these products into account - if they are currently in stock at the warehouse - to ensure the completion of the order.
If the required items are not available, the box will stay in use - where needed, you can remove the items from the box making use of the respective option in the box overview accessing the “Boxes” tab, for these orders to be taken into account at a later stage on a regular picklist, only if particular items are in stock.
Transport Bins in Scan-In
Transport bins can be used not only for replenishment but also for regular picking. To do this, the database setting Use transport bins for picking must be enabled. If transport bins are now used for picklists, they can be scanned in Scan-In. As a result, two different scenarios can occur under pixi Web > Logistics > Scan-In:
Important: Scan-in with transport bins is only supported by pixi Mobile and pixi Web, but not in pixi Desktop Shipping.
-
If a Picklist is
scanned and has only one transport bin: The list is automatically loaded and displayed.
scanned and has multiple transport bins assigned: The desired bin is selected from a list or scanned in the pop-up.
-
If an empty transport bin (TBIN) is scanned
The pop-up for selecting the transport bin is displayed.
The input field for the transport bin is automatically focused.
An overview with pick list number and transport bin appears, sorted by pick list number in ascending order.
Reporting Stock Shortages in Transport Bins
In pixi Web > Logistics > Scan-In, you have the option of displaying stock shortages. If there are no more items in a transport bin, you can display the stock shortage in the Action column using the Transport Bin Empty functionality. To do this, use the recycle bin icon.
