Two-Factor Authentication (also referred to as MFA, 2FA, Multi-Factor-Authentication or Two-Factor Verification) provides an extra layer of security for your account. When you enable Two-Factor Authentication, a verification code is sent to your authenticator app, email address, or phone number, which you must enter when logging in.
This article outlines the steps required to set up 2FA for your account.
Overview
Two-Factor Authentication helps protect your Descartes pixi account with an added layer of security during the login process.
Step 1: Enter your password.
Step 2: You’ll be prompted to enter a code received via an authentication app (recommended), email, or text message.
This article explains how to configure Two-Factor Authentication in the pixi app. If you are a user with administrator rights, 2FA is mandatory, and setup is required upon login.
Why is Two-Factor Authentication necessary?
Two-step verification makes it more difficult for unauthorized users to access your account—even if your password has been compromised. Account breaches often occur when the same password is used across multiple websites or when login credentials are obtained through phishing emails.
Two-Factor Authentication can prevent attackers from accessing your account, even if they have your password.
Tip: When setting up Two-Factor Authentication, make sure to register two different verification methods. If you forget your password or lose your phone, you’ll still be able to sign in using the second method—avoiding a complex account recovery process.
How does Two-Factor Authentication work?
Let’s say 2FA is enabled. When you log in:
You’ll first be prompted to enter your password (first verification).
Then you’ll be prompted to enter a one-time passcode (second verification), which is delivered via your chosen verification method.
After completing your session, log out of the application.
What do you need?
To set up Two-Factor Authentication, you’ll need the following:
Your smartphone
Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator
An email address (preferably not linked to pixi)
Your login credentials (username and password)
Preparation
We recommend using the following two methods for 2FA:
Authenticator app
Alternative email address
You can configure an authenticator app on your smartphone and an alternate email as a backup method.
Recommended apps:
