High Volume 1-Scan-Shipping for Orders with Only a Single Item

This expansion of the 1-Scan-Shipping functionality for a single item expedites the shipping process when compared to the traditional 1SS process when you have multiple single-item orders for the same product. There is no need to scan the SKU barcode for each order and the shipping documents are immediately generated and printed after entering the picklist number for all orders.

Use Cases

The functionality is suitable for numerous applications, here are a few examples:

  1. Mono-brands with a small range:
You sell a highly specialized, small range of products, for example niche products or exclusive brands, which are usually only ordered in quantity '1' and you regularly receive many orders for the same item.

  2. Pre-orders and re-stocks:
The new feature is ideal if you can generate a lot of advance orders, for example for new releases of toys, cosmetics, books, CDs, DVDs or fan articles that are to be shipped immediately after arrival in your stock on the day of release. This functionality is also ideal for advance orders of one container of food, such as Advent calendars, which are usually ordered in quantity '1'.

  3. Product drops:
A drop is when a usually strictly limited item, especially in the fashion segment, is released in the shop on a specific day and sold very quickly thanks to campaigns in social media. Electronic accessories also benefit from high-volume 1-scan shipping, for example when renowned manufacturers introduce new devices and you offer matching accessories that are sold in very large quantities with the quantity '1' from the date of release.

  4. Sets, gifts, trial packages and mystery boxes:
If you have pre-packaged sets, gift and surprise boxes or trial packages in your range that are managed as separate SKUs (and not as a bundle), this method is also particularly suitable for them.

  5. Product subscriptions:
If your shop regularly generates new orders with only one item each via a subscription functionality, which you pick in large quantities, this new procedure will be able to provide more efficiency.

  6. Daily deals and flash sales:
If you offer an item at a bargain price every day as part of a 'flash sale', which many customers order in quantity '1', the extension will also save time for these orders.

Comparison: 1-Scan-Shipping and High Volume 1-Scan-Shipping

A direct comparison of 1-Scan-Shipping™ and High Volume 1-Scan-Shipping™ using an example:

Let's say you have 100 open customer orders for the same item in quantity '1':

Number of barcode scans in the regular 1-Scan-Shipping™ process:

  1. Generating the 1-Scan-Shipping™ picklist, picking the items and taking them to the shipping table.

  2. The Picklist number is recorded in the 'Scan-In'

  3. You scan the first picked item and repeat the process for the remaining 99 products
Result: In total, 101 scans are required in the conventional process (1 x Picklist scan, 100 x item scan).

Number of barcode scans in the High Volume 1-Scan-Shipping™ process:

  1. Generating the 1-Scan-Shipping™ picklist by either entering a specific EAN or selecting the item group, picking the items and taking them to the shipping table

  2. The Picklist number is recorded in the 'Scan-In'

  3. The prompt asking whether you will be creating 100 shipping documents is confirmed by clicking

  4. All shipping documents for the 100 orders are generated and printed.
Result: Only a single scan is required – namely of the Picklist number.

The Two Ways to use High-Volume 1-Scan Shipping

We offer you two different modes for the high-volume 1-scan shipping process:

  1. If you want to create a dedicated picklist for a single product, enter the EAN of the product in the Only for single item (EAN) field in the picklist settings.

  2. If you want to create 1-Scan-Shipping picklists for different products and take advantage of the benefits of the procedure described here, simply check the Group by item checkbox in the picklist settings: Descartes pixi will now automatically create a separate picklist for each item.

This is how easy it is to use the functionality for the first mode:

In the Picklist Profile Settings, you can specify that Descartes pixi creates Picklists for Only for single item (EAN). If you have already created such a Picklist, follow these steps for Shipping:

  1. Open the Scan-In page.

  2. Scan the Picklist.

  3. pixi will open a dialog box to confirm the number of shipping labels to be printed. Click Confirm.

  4. pixi will now print the shipping labels automatically.

    • If the query for the package type for the shipping vendor is enabled, it only needs to be selected for the first order.

Note: If you use this option, you will not be able to use Scan-In again until the shipping labels for all orders have been printed.

  5. The process is complete.

This is how easy it is to use the functionality for the second mode:

In the Picklist Profile Settings, you can specify that Descartes pixi creates a separate 1-scan shipping picklist for each item. Simply select the “Group by item” checkbox in the Picklist Settings: Descartes pixi will now generate a separate picklist for each product. After picking, follow these simple steps for shipping

Note: If Chrome is used, problems may occur when printing invoices via the desktop client, as not all invoices are printed automatically. In this case, the following settings should be changed in Chrome:

  1. Open the following path in Windows Explorer:

    • ..\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\

  2. Open the Preferences file in a text editor

  3. Add this entry and save the file

    • "protocol_handler":{"excluded_schemes":{"pixi":false}}
