pixi Web Administration: Licenses

In Administration > Licenses, you'll find a comprehensive overview of your licenses with a user-friendly graph and a table. With this page, you can easily monitor your license usage. Whether you want to get an overview of your current usage or keep an eye on possible overuse of your licenses, this page has everything you need to effectively manage your licenses.

Please note that the license usage chart is currently only available for customers in the hosting environment,

Activation for Users

For users, this page needs to be enabled in Control Center. The role setting is located in User Management > Roles and Rights > (Role) > Group : General > Licenses (Web pixi). For administrators, the page is enabled by default.

Graph

The graph is supported only in the hosting environment.

This graph shows the usage of used, flexible and fixed licenses per day:

  • Licenses Usage: Total number of licenses used on the day (flexible + fixed)

  • Flexible Licenses: Number of flexible licenses that were used on the day (flexible only)

Please note: This licence model is no longer actively offered. The flexible licences shown are displayed for customers with existing contract conditions.

  • Fixed Licenses: Number of fixed licenses that were used on the day (fixed only)


Tip: Click on the boxes in the legend to show or hide the columns or lines.

License Use in pixi Web and Mobile

Please note the following about license use for pixi Web and Mobile applications:

  • All users with permission to access the Licenses page can release mobile licenses.

  • If all licenses are in use and a user logs in to pixi Web

    • a user without authorization for the licenses page encounters an error message stating 'number of licenses exceeded' immediately after logging in and upon attempting to navigate to another page.

    • with permission to access Licenses (Web pixi), the user is redirected to the Licenses page. This redirect also occurs if the user tries to access other pages. Please note that the redirect only serves information purposes. The user cannot release licenses for pixi Web.

Licence Overview

In the lower part of the Licenses page there is a table with the currently used licenses or actively logged in users. It contains information about the following:

  • License Type: Web, Mobile or Desktop

  • Application: Which application is currently used with the license

  • Username: The name of the user that uses the license

  • Computer Name: The name of the device that the license is used on

  • Session ID: The ID of the session


Releasing Mobile Licenses

Mobile licenses that are used in pixi Mobile can be released in pixi Web. The releasing functionality is available to every user who has access to the page. If all licenses are in use, pixi displays a banner ("All pixi licenses are currently in use! In order to use pixi, a license needs to be released. The overview of users using the licenses is shown below.").

Note: You cannot release licenses for pixi Web.


To release a license:

  1. Go to Administration > Licenses.

  2. In the Licenses Overview grid, highlight the (mobile) license you would like to release.

  3. Press the Release license button in the action bar.

  4. The license was released.


Automatic Release of Mobile Licenses

Licenses of inactive mobile devices are released automatically. A check for inactive user checks run every 15 minutes and release licenses for users who have not been active for more than 30 minutes. This also applies to users who have not logged out properly and for whom more than 30 minutes have passed since their last activity.
